Right Wing Ryan got it all wrong!!!

The economy is improving and even as the stock market hits 15000 for the first time, noramlly a good sign - well in this case its bad and its Obama’s fault.  The Right has made the debt the big deal but it is getting smaller and they can’t deal with that.  Obamacare was to destroy the economy but it looks like it will do fine.  Yes, it has growing pains and the administration is reacting to its implementation challenges but none the less, Obamacare has many provisions to cut cost or control cost.  It will be hard to implement because the Right wing will do everything it can to kill it be not approving funding etc.  The Right acts as if under the Progressives, we just seek a welfare state - far from it and why they are now having problems.  Progressives believe in capitalism and the market but also know that the corporate elite is greedy and left along it will pay substandard wages or not follow regulations as in the BP oil disaster.  Oh and yes we have the poor to help - something in the bible the Right holds to their chest so ofther but we are our brothers keepers.  Yes, the left believes in prosperity for all as much as possible not just the top 1 percent!  See article at link:  The Facts Are In and Paul Ryan Is Wrong.  The Progressive Latino Like us on Facebook and share with your friends.   Credits for pic to ThinkProgress.

$832 Billion for Immigration Reform!!!!

Americans can benefit in an enormous way from immigration reform if it leads to legalization and citizenship.  How much?  The US economy could stand to gain $832 Billion!!  This is if we act fast and just give legal staus in 2013.  The Center for American Progress put together an infographic you need to review and share see Infographic: How Legalization and Citizenship Helps the Economy.   So immigration is not just a humane thing to do but it will improve our economy.  The leadership of the Right knows this but again it just does not matter.  All they see is more democratic votes and a less white America.  Stay on top of your congressman for this will not be an easy fight.  Imagin if over 80% of Americans are for background checks and the gun control bill still failed it will be harder for immigration.  The Progressive Latino.  Like us on Facebook and share with friends.   Credits for pic to Center for American Progress.

7.5% and 15000!!!!!!

Latinos, these are great numbers!!!  The April jobs report indicted that the unemployment rate is down to 7.5%.  That is the lowest in 4 years.   It might be lower if not for sequestration.  The other number, 15000 is related to the Dow Jones, which hit 15000 for the first time.  Not back for a socialist MuslimJ  Yes, the Right keeps calling our president a socialist or Muslim among many names but you can’t deny the fact that the economy keeps on getting better in spite of the Obstructionist, Republican Congress being against everything Obama wants including his jobs bill.  Never forget or let a loud mount Right winger forget that it was 8 years of Bush that led our country to the brink of a depression.  So Latinos as I know you know – it is not just about immigration but the economy as well.   It has been moving in the right direction – away from disaster to success.  The Progressive Latino  - Like us on Facebook.  Share with friends.  Credits for pic to Whitehouse.gov

Impact of Sequestration on Latinos

Sequestration has kicked in and unless Congress does something soon we will all feel its impact in a few months.  What is the impact?  Sequestration impacts will take place over time, and the reality is that since our political leadership assumed (never assume anything) it would never happen they are only starting to get the sense of it as different agencies deep dive to crunch numbers and determine impact and report out.  The sequestration budget cuts take place over 10 years but what you need to know is that there are direct and indirect effects.  For the average citizen it will be the indirect impact - the ripple effect at the grocery counter as food prices creep up, less government services we are used to even like the DMV due to furloughs or more layoffs as less folks buy less.  A 20 % cut in pay to government works mean less money for bsiness selling so it impacts small business in particular.  Job growth though steady might slow down and home values may go down just as they and construction are picking up.  Less government workers can impact as suggested in the news, airports, border security.  According to Fox News Latino,   “Included in the sequester chopping block are 5.1 percent cuts to government programs such as Women, Infants and Children (WIC), Head-Start and Title 1 Education. About 42 percent of participants in the WIC program, which provides food vouchers to low income mothers, are Latino and 300,000 young Latinos are part of the early education Head Start program.”  We hear lots about how the sequester will impact the Defense Department but other sectors of society will get hit.  Here at link is info on impact to health.  The Progressive Latino.  Visit us at www.theprogressivelatino.com and like us on facebook.

Sequester will hurt Latinos!!

The Ring-wing 2013 budget proposal

The Ring wing keeps catering to the 1%.   According to Forbes, the  tax cuts in Paul Ryan’s 2013 budget plan would result in huge benefits for high-income people and very modest—or no-benefits for low income working households, according to a new analysis by the Tax Policy Center.  Think Progress provides very good details on the Ryan plan and how his own constituents are now against him. The Ryan plan gets "62 percentof its budget cuts from programs that benefit low-income Americans and would boot millions off of food stamps. In addition, Medicare, Medicaid, Pell Grants, and job training programs would face cuts, all while millionares recieve a tax break."  Even "The Donald" commented that the GOP plan was a big mistake in being proposed now.  That they would be better of waiting until after the election.  Oh really!  So if the plan is so good why wait?   Check this all out Latinos!!  if you think the right wing will help you become better of - think agains!!  TPL

Center for American Progress on Immigration Reform

The Center for American Progress is a progressive think tank.  An article produced on 29 Sept. 2011 (http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2011/09/immigration_economy.html) highlighted 10 reasons why immigration reform is important to our nations fiscal health.  Had we had comprehensive immigration reform two years ago, we would have had $1.5 trillion added to our gross domestic product and we would have seen a growth of 2.9% in our GDP.  Take a look at the article.  Immigration reform is not only the compassionate course of action, Americans can take but it is a wise investment in our nation's overall economic health.

US Budget

The battle for the 2011 budget continues.  Democrats appears to be asserting themselves trying to create a split betwwen the Republican mainstream leadership and the Tea party.  The Republicans are trying to take advantage of the situation argueing for the need to cut spending while in reality seeking to impose their social agenda by attaching riders to the bill that would defund health care, cut student financial aid, cutting Head Start, aid to veterans, job training and other emplyment benefits, planned parenthood - well the list goes on.  It is one thing to cut spending, which I agree with but it should be done by examining the impact on programs and them making an informed decision program by program.  Imposing a social agenda has nothing to do with improving the economy as some conservatives would like you o think.  It is imperative that we communicate to our representatives the need to hold the line against the conservative anti-middle class agenda.
